McMillan has an opportunity for a full-time Financial Services Paralegal in our Vancouver office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paralegal who is looking for a new and exciting challenge at a national law firm.
Please note that this role offers a hybrid workweek. Each week will combine both working at home for a few days and working in the office for the balance. Your hybrid schedule will start once you join McMillan!
What You’ll Do
You will be working closely with our lawyers, paralegals and legal administrative assistants across Canada, primarily in Financial Services (Banking) and Commercial Real Estate, to deliver quality legal services to our clients and will be involved in a wide variety of legal tasks including:
- Drafting, reviewing and providing input on loan, security and other relevant financing documentation, drafting financing statements and other relevant Land Title, Personal Property and public registrations
- Conducting online legal searches and other research in relation to due diligence on financing and other commercial transactions, and preparing comprehensive due diligence summaries in respect of same
- Keeping abreast of new developments and participating in practice group meetings and initiatives
- Maintaining the integrity of all record keeping, indexing and database systems
- Maintaining and enhancing legal technical knowledge by attending professional development seminars and workshops
What You Bring
You have established yourself as a key resource in your successful legal career and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Your history includes a Paralegal Diploma, coupled with experience at the Paralegal level. Knowledge of legal and technical procedures, statutes, regulations and applicable governmental practices is mandatory. You have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, are detail-oriented, able to effectively meet deadlines, work well in a team setting and provide an exceptional level of client service. You embrace evolving technology and have strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Prior experience with Desksite, IntApp Time or similar document management and timekeeping software is required.
