We are currently looking for a legal administrative assistant to work in our litigation department.  Practice areas for the two lawyers you would be working with are predominately:

  • Insolvency and restructuring;
  • General commercial litigation

 In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining an efficient file management and bring forward system for limitation and follow-up dates;
  • Preparing and drafting various correspondence and legal documents from dictation and precedent documents (this will include demand letters, foreclosure materials, receivership applications and CCAA filings);
  • Preparing lists of documents;
  • Scheduling trials, applications, hearings and other matters;
  • Performing PPR, LTO, tax and similar searches;
  • Handling incoming and outgoing (e)mail; answering client telephone calls and communicating with opposing counsel;
  • Preparation of bills;

Here is what you bring to the team:

  • Graduation from Legal Administrative Assistant Program and/or 3 or more years of relevant work experience as a legal administrative assistant in a general litigation law practice.  We will also consider less experienced candidates who bring sufficient aptitude and enthusiasm.
  • A thorough understanding of insolvency procedures (including foreclosures, receiverships and CCAA proceedings)  is an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Able to manage, organize and prioritize work independently;
  • Proficient with LTSA and MS Office applications;
  • Ability to stay focused in a fast paced work environment;
  • Strong organization skills with high accuracy and attention to detail;
